The need for energy is what brings us all together but only clean energy will keep us together
Israel Faleye was first exposed to the Nigerian power sector as an undergraduate intern at Egbin Electric Power Plc, Ijede-Ikorodu, Lagos in 2013. Ever since, he has developed a huge interest in the Nigerian power sector especially in applying renewable energy through mini-grids for rural electrification and the use of improved cookstoves. His first professional engagement within the industry started officially in 2016 while he took up a volunteering opportunity as a Project Manager and think-tank for the UK based project development and management firm – P7 Development Ltd. – for feasibility study and implementation of their pilot ‘Social Housing, Energy & Economy Program’ (SHEEP) at Osun and Oyo state, Nigeria. In this role, he spearheaded the development of a universal screening exercise and feasibility methodology for the organization, among other notable achievements.
In 2017, Israel interned with the Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria, now Renewable Energy Access Network (REAN), as the association’s pioneer secretariat staff which saw him serve with the association’s pioneer executive and advisory board members.
Israel has occupied various administrative positions and has volunteered in content writing and PR/social media management jobs for various SMEs, startups, organizations and programs. He loves creative writing, swimming and attending intellect-spurring conferences and fieldtrips. He is a graduate member of the Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered), member of the Nigerian Association of Energy Economics (NAEE) and the International Association of Energy Economics (IAEE). He is skilled at handling risk analysis using Decision Tools Suite (@RISK, Stat Tool, Risk Optimizer etc) by Palisade, UK.
Israel is currently a masters student of Energy Studies (Energy Economics option) at the first African multidisciplinary institution for energy – the Center for Petroleum, Energy Economics and Law (CPEEL), University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. He bagged a Bachelors degree in Physics with Electronics from Osun state University, Osogbo, Nigeria in 2015.
